This CMS is based on YAML and MediaWiki. mwCMS allows you to easy edit and display content on your website. You are completely free, what your site should look like and where your data comes from.
However, most content is stored and published through MediaWiki, the famous software, which is used for Wikipedia. If you want content from other sources (phpBB, guestbooks, etc.) you can easily create your own plugins or use different layouts for your website.
You need programming skills (mod_rewrite, PHP, XHMTL, CSS and regular expressions) to install and use mwCMS. Here are some PHP functions, you should know by heart:
- file(): Reads entire file into an array
- array(): Create an array
- array_push(): Push one or more elements onto the end of array
- preg_match(): Perform a regular expression match
Basic programming skills in PHP will not be sufficient. It is strongly recommended to understand something like "(^[1-9]{1}$|^[1-4]{1}[0-9]{1}$|^50$)", because "mod_rewrite" and mwCMS-Parser are using RegEx. Therefore you have to know how to use regular expressions. If you want to use your own HTML tags within mwCMS, you have to know how to create an extension.
